Follow up survey log in fails

Hi There,
I would like to set up an anonymous diary study, consisted of a pre-diary survey (T1), followed by a series of short, day-to-day surveys. Towards that end, I add as a last question, a question regarding participants' email for those who are willing to stay on board with the follow-up (day-to-day) surveys.

Then, I add embedded data to get a random numer ID that I am going to create as a control for T2
image.png
Then, I select, Tools / Triggers / Contact list Triggers ...
image.png
Then, I added respondent to Panel list (though I am not sure that I need this step)

Then, I select Actions, add "events", create "emai"l
image.png then, in the "to" field, i add the email from the question I retrieved from the T1 survey and include the link for the T2 survey, followed by Question mark "?", followed by the respective Random ID field

Then, I go to the T2 (daily survey)
image.pnggo to the Flow and follow the steps for Successfull Authentication as they are described in Qualtrics webpages
image.pngThen, I launch the prediary survey and after I enter my email, I successfully received two supposedly to be T2 and T3 follow up surveys with the same Random ID
image.pngBut when I click on the link
image.pngand try to enter the Random ID, it gives me an error
image.pngimage.pngThough one might suspect that this is because I tried several times, this problem occured from the very first attempt.
I would very much appreciate if you could provide me any hint about what I am doing wrong.
Thanks in advance

Try changing the name from RandomID to something else. Maybe its causing an error because RandomID is the name of a field in the directory by default. And since you are also sending it through the URL its causing an issue.
But I'm just guessing.

Thanks ahmedA for the hint. I changed the "RandomID" to "Random ID" but stll a fail to log in comes up.

Okay. Another you could look at is whether your contacts are duplicated or not. In one of the surveys, I had incorporated contact authentication, and I was seeing authentication failures if two contacts have the same External Data Reference. If I delete one, the contact authentication passes.
Since you mention you received two emails with same RandomID, maybe that's the problem.

Thanks, ahmedA, but unfortunately the problem is there. I deleted all the previous emails that I sent to myself and start the process anew but still the log in fail is there. I sent it also the invitation to another user and again she could not log in.
I wrote to the people in Qualtrics and none of them got back to me to give an asnwer to my question. I am so disappointed.

Did you find a solution?

Also, you can look up the reporting in Actions tab to see why the error is being caused.

I had the same exact issue. What I did was I got rid of the authenticator and added the RandomID (like you), added it to the end of the link for the pre-survey and then the follow on survey, and redirected to the second survey from the first under Customize for End of Survey. This may not work if you want there to be a time gap between surveys though. I think the authenticator is unnecessary, the RandomID will connect the data to the same participant without them having to "sign in" or provide a password (which never worked for me and I tried a few different ways).
I ended up combining everything together under 1 survey (pre, baseline, and EMA (time diary for 30 days)) because I have a lot of information that needs to pipe through the entire thing but now I don't know how to distribute the different blocks...
Hope this helps!

Thanks Viki_M7
Indeed, after talking over the phone with a specialist from Qualtrics, I learned that the authenticator is not needed. Once I dropped it, everything went fine.
