Scores not showing up correctly as embedded data - why not please?

I am using scoring and scoring categories to link responses from multiple questions into 'groups'. I have then created embedded data fields that correspond to each category and linked each to the Piped Data Scoring element in the hope of being able to use scores in dashboards. However, despite getting all this set up in what I think is the right way, the embedded data fields seem to be showing a count of the number of times a response has been selected and not the cumulative scores of all the responses. What am I doing wrong please?
