Dear allI'm a newbie so apologies in advance for the nativity of my question. I have a question in my survey which is a matrix table using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Would never use; 5 = Would always use). Each item refers to a psychological treatment that a clinician might use, but of course my list isn't exhaustive. For this reason I have included three items with text boxes so that participants can nominate any other treatments that they might use. I would like this question to be forced choice, except for the free text items. I have looked through community responses and found a solution, but I just can't seem to make it work. That solution involves creating customised validation in the form shown below. When I complete the survey in Preview mode, however, the custom validation does almost nothing (it will force a response if some items have not been completed, but not others). I would be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction. The images below are my orig
In have custom validation is in place for a question in my survey requiring participants to select answers on a five point scale. There are multiple rows in my question, each of which corresponds to an option (e.g. a type of psychological treatment that might be used to help a client). Forced choice is in place for these rows. However, at the end of the question there are three rows where participants can write in a treatment they would use. Participants still choose how often they would use the treatment, but Forced Choice is not in place because logically it makes no sense to force participants say how often they would use a treatment if they haven't written anything in. So far, so good. However, if someone accidentally clicks on one of the rows corresponding to the write in treatments, it doesn't seem possible to deselect that row. It is possible to change your choice (e.g. go from "Rarely" to "Always") but once any of the options are selected, it is not possible to deselect
