I'm working on a Qualtrics survey and I'm wondering if there is any way to see results totaled within Qualtrics "live" as more people take a survey. For instance, if one respondent took the survey and responded on a rating scale for several different questions in several different blocks, say a 1, 2, 4, 5, 3, and 2. Is there a way to show the total for that respondent was 17 in reports or results or data analysis without manually doing the addition? I don't want the summed results for all participants responses for one question but one participants responses over many questions. And I'd like it to not be in Excel. Does that make sense? Thanks!
This can be achieved by using 'scoring'. In regard to displaying the results live, all you would have to do is add the scoring variable to your results window. This will show you score as participants finish this survey. This is what I have done in the image below. I created a scoring element for 7 likert questions, and then had the display of the total in the element "SCO-likert scale". You can have any same type of question (e.g., multiple choice, likert, word, etc) added together and label the total whatever you want. However, you should be careful as there is a delay between when the scoring occurs/when a participant finishes the survey/when Qualtrics shows you that data. You can then export the results in whatever format you want at the end as normal. You can also see this 'live' in your results section. But the delay will still be there.
