The output of my experiment is too large for an excel spreadsheet as it presents horizontally. I've got about 125,000 cells, horizontal only has about 16,000 Given the dimensions of excel docs, I should be able to get all the data to load if I'm able to transpose it to a vertical presentation of the question output (up to 2mil) . I can't transpose it after uploading into excel, because the remainder of the data won't load. Is there a way I can dictate a vertical output with question details on the y axis and participants go across the x axis?
Hi there, are you saying your dataset has 125,000+ columns/variables?
I do not believe there is a way to transpose the dataset before exporting it, but Qualtrics support page on data export formats has the following:
"Qtip: Though CSV files do not have a column limit, Excel does. Excel 2003 has a limit of 256 columns and Excel 2007 has a limit of 16,000. Some surveys may have more variables than these. In these situations, the data will be stored in the downloaded CSV file, but cannot be displayed in Excel. If this is the case, you will need to find another program to view the data (SPSS, SAS, STATA, etc.)."
I'd recommend going with SPSS if you can, the column and row limits are in the billions and Qualtrics can export directly to it.
