Conditions for partial recording or creative solution required | XM Community

Hi there,

I built a new block for a very long survey for our Support. The new block is the only one required now, and we are about to stop displying the old blocks. What happens now is that the new block is at the end, so every time someone enter the survey, it record it as partial, even if the customer just saw the question and got out of the survey.

I want to either add a term saying that if a certain question was not asked don’t save it, or find another creative way.

Last resort would be to create the survey again as new, but the flows and workflows are so complicated I want to avoid it…

Thanks

Hi @deveer2024

Don’t save partial record unless you need data for analyze, it will burn through you response cap without bring in too much info.
For saving record base on condition. You can add EOS inside a condition branch to stop the survey, even customize it to save or not

Brilliant! I’m going to test it! You are the best!

Hi @Nam Nguyen thank you for your brilliant ideas. I tried the suggested here, and was unable to actually stop the answeres from being saved.

What I want to do is this: specifically indicated that if question QID31 has no answer for it (So NPS Groups are empty), then I ask that the survey will go to end like you showed here without saving the record. QID31 is the 3rd question after 2 hidden JS questions… and it is a mandatory one… So, what happens is that customers go into the link, 2 questions has been theoretically displayed. Then they see QID31 (which for them is the first one) and they go out of the survey, which is now partial and saved… However, I don’t want to turn off partials in general.

If their are no issue on the order of how the data is downloaded from data analysis tab, can’t we simply move the new block at the top of the survey flow.

@deveer2024 I guess I know what’s your real problem is. You don’t need a special condition to not save the survey like what you asked for.

You problem is with the respondent who dropped of, your block is at the bottom so if they just quit the survey, they will not be going through any survey flow condition for us to regconize and treat them differently.
To treat the drop-off, we have to go to Survey Setting→ Reponses→Incomplete survey responses
→  Delete them after a time.

Guess your having a bunch of responses with 0% progess. This will help you.

Hi, yes, the only problem is that we have 3% progress as the first 2 questions are JS hidden quesitons. Not 0% and that is what harming me… Maybe I can advance the non-responsive to the 3 question after X time by JS to the end of the survey (because I save the option to continue partial for X hours)

(because I save the option to continue partial for X hours)

@deveer2024 No, it will record and close the response after X hours, the respondent can not continue that session anymore. That’s the reason why you have 3% progress, maybe they opened it and didn’t finish, or maybe their email security scanner open the link (not real human open it) and it trigger the session countdown and you waste your money.

Set it to Delete after 1 year, during that time, you can still decided which partial responses you want to get and the respondent can continue the survey.

@Nam Nguyen Got you, so partial response for 1 year will allow me to delete it prior to that 1 year without being counted? This sounds to me as great solution for my need in this survey. Thanks!!

So, it will go now to the data and analysis? or it will be waiting in the non-completed?

can you edit it or decide what to do with a partial then? let’s say it is 50% and not 3% can I then decide to keep it somehow?

@deveer2024 Yes, it will be stored in Data & Analysis → Response in Progress. You can chose to close the responses early (keep in mind Record/Delete will depend on you setting at that time) to get the 98% progress and leave the 0% out to be deleted.
