Dynamically update number of statements per choice | XM Community
Skip to main content

Within a matrix table question, I have limited the respondent to only being able to answer a maximum of 5 statements with each column, so that they have to balance the statements. I did this through custom validation. I want to show the number of statements to the user that they have already answered per column. Example: “number of statements answer with ‘fully disagree’: 2 out of a maximum of 5”. I want to do this on a text box within the same block.

I have never used JavaScript in Qualtrics before and am struggling to get this count working. I want it to update dynamically on the same page as the statements. Could you please provide me with a script that I could use for this? I also do not understand whether I should only add something in the JavaScript editor, or whether I should also add an element in the text box itself. Something like an variable / element id?
