Easy way for respondent to tick lots of horizontal checkboxes quickly in a side-by-side question?

I have a side by side question with lots of horizontal checkboxes. (I'm pretty tied to this layout)
The respondent may have to tick lots of boxes in a row e.g. all of the highlighted boxes below - which could be quite painful for the respondent.
Is there a way using JavaScript for a respondent to be able to complete the question quickly.
e.g. could they click one box and then when they click on a second box it selects all of the boxes in between?
e.g. or could they hold down, say the shift key
or some other way??
