Hi there!
I have a side by side question here with four categories and multiple rows. So we have four dropdowns for each row but we don't require selections for all, neither for all columns nor for all rows. I am looking for a way to validate the response as long as a single selection is made.
The options of the dropdown are Neutral, Minor, Major, Critical, their recode values are 1, 2, 3, 4.
I have tried different approaches:
Category 1 (Recode) greater than or equal to 1
Or Category 2 (Recode) greater than or equal to 1, etc.
Neutral (Count) greater than or equal to 1
Or Minor (Count) greater than or equal to 1, etc., etc.
plus other approaches using all category-dropdown choice combinations (Category 1 - Neutral, Category 1 - Minor, etc.). None of them are working, whenever I test it by selecting an option from a single dropdown and then move to the next question I am prompted to make selections for all columns.
Does anyone know if there is a way to achieve this?
Thank you!

Hi, AndreaMaria! What if you included an additional option in the drop down column to satisfy the forced response validation? That way, they're not picking a rating, but still providing a response for each column. For example, you could include "n/a" or "not applicable."

Hi Erin!
Thanks for the quick reply! That thought had actually crossed my mind as well but I first wanted to try to solve it without changing the options as it is not my survey. Then I got a bit hooked and thought there must be some way to do this using custom validation, I just don't see it yet.
Thank you!
Andrea
