How can I combine "Random subset" and "Randomize questions" in Advanced Randomization?domizati | XM Community

Overview: I am randomly selecting some questions while having one question that always appears, but I would like to randomize the order of the question that always appears within the randomly selected ones.
I have a set of 50 questions, of which I am randomly selecting 25 for display to each participant. I have done this using the "Random subset" option under Advanced Randomization. In addition, I have one question that will be shown to every participant. But I want the order of my "Always Appear" question to be randomized within the 25 selected questions. When I try to do this, the 25 selected questions show up as "{Random Subset}" in the fixed order display and can't be dragged into the "Randomize questions" menu, so the "Always Appear" question shows up in the same place every time.
How can I do this? Can I use Javascript to get around this?

I also encountered this problem, how did you solve it😭

Hi,

A simple work-around for this limitation would be to add your 51 questions to a subset and randomly insert 26 of them and check the the “evenly display questions” box and set absurdly high counts for all your questions except the one you always want to display, which you set to a starting count of 0. That way, it’ll always select that question + 25 of the 50 others.

As long as the count for the question you want always displayed is inferior to those of your other questions, that’ll work.
