I have a vexing problem that iam trying to solve with Qualtrics – I would like to present an image for a period of time but then increment that descending period of time every time a key is pressed. So a given image would have X key presses while another could have Y number of keys presses. Can any body help me sort this problem as I have tried a variety of permutations but have failed on all counts.
Hi seniorc, wanted to clarify your requirement here as I'm slightly confused by the wording...
Are you simply trying to increment (i.e. count) the number of times a key is pressed when a given image is displayed for a set amount of time? For example, an image is set to display for 10 seconds and for the duration of that 10 seconds, you want to count the number of times the respondent presses a key and capture that as a value in the survey?
Alternatively, are you wanting (for example) to display an image for 10 seconds and reset that 10 second countdown every time the respondent presses a key?
Or are you trying to achieve something completely different to either of the above scenarios?
Cheers,
Cameron
Hi Cameron
Thanks for your response - both really. So an image would have a count down bar that descends from 10 to 0 secs. After 10 secs it would disappear. If a user pressed a key the count down would be increased by 1 sec or so. Each time a key is pressed the count would be increased by 1 sec. The number of key presses would be collected plus also the total duration time. This would mean that a particular image could be the screen for 40 secs (for example) and have 20 key presses. While a second image could be on the screen for 10 secs and have no key presses.
I hope this is clearer?
Many thanks for your help here
