EX participant import automation - empty values | XM Community

Hi,

I have a question on how Qualtrics treats “empty” values for embedded data fields with the EX participant import automation in lifecycle projects.

Use case is as follows - onboarding survey, participants are pulled in based on “entry date” value (date = 30 days before today) on a daily basis. Now what we want:

If the departure date is before today, then do not add to the survey (in case someone leaves the company within the first month or first 5 months). And possibly also: If the departure is not less than 14 days in the future, then send out a survey (so that employees who are about to leave do not receive an onboarding survey, as they will soon receive an exit survey). Unfortunately, you cannot set a negative condition, right? But if we enter 'less than' instead of 'more than', how will empty departure fields be treated? Would they still be added to the survey (empty = further in the future) or would they not meet the condition?

Anybody encountered something like this?

Thanks!

We use something similar in our lifecycle surveys for folks who have attended onboarding (we need folks with less than 30 days experience but over 10 days etc). We don’t have field identifiers on 100% of our employees, and Qualtrics ignores those who do not have any characters in that particular metadata field. I can’t say for certain without looking at your data, but I would go out on a limb and say that if you are filtering based on date based credentials, only those who meet those (i.e. have dates etc) will be included, others will be ignored.
