3 surveys, same population, unique identifier | XM Community

I need to send three separate surveys to the same sample population. I intend to send the surveys from Qualtrics directly. I need a way to tie the survey results from all three surveys back to the person who filled them out so I can see each person’s responses across all three surveys. All three surveys will be spaced out about two weeks. For example, if the dealdine to finish survey 1 is October 1, then survey two will not be sent out until October 15. None of the surveys will link to the other surveys becasue they will be taken at separate times.

Questions:

  1. I know I need a unique identifer. What is the best way to set this up based on the use case above?
  2. Right now, I have this set us as three separate projects, each with one survey. Is it better to have this as one project with three surveys?
  3. Is there a way that once all three surveys are complete the data from each survey can be downloaded in an Excel file all together? So, if person X takes all three surveys, then I get an excel file with a row for person X and their answers to all of the questions from the three surveys?

I appreciate the community’s help on this.

  1. Yes, you need a unique identifier, you can include it as external data reference while uploading your contacts and you can include the survey meta data (ExternalDataReference) in survey flow in all 3 surveys so it will be pulled automatically when distributed via email.
  2. You can have 3 surveys separate, it will work just fine.
  3. Once all surveys have responses you can create a dasboard with these 3 data sources and create a widget with data as required and map external data reference for all 3 data sources in one field respectively. You can then export the same as needed.
    1. To merge and get an excel as you had mentioned would require some complex customization.

Hope it helps!
