How to hide certain questions from 40% of sample ? 

Hi everyone,I’m new to Qualtrics and setting up my first longitudinal research study, so I would really appreciate advice on best practices.I will distribute surveys to the same participants 4 times over the course of a year. My current thinking is:Survey 1 would collect demographic and contact information. Surveys 2–4 would only include the repeated study measures/questions. I was planning not to repeat demographic questions or sections that are unlikely to change, mainly to reduce participant burden, survey fatigue, and attrition.However, I’m not sure if this is the best way to structure a longitudinal study in Qualtrics.The study will start with open enrollment using a public link. Why is Qualtrics so behind in having AI integrations to Claude, GPT, etc?   Before I go any further Qualtrics has a ton of positives - lots to love. . World class support being one.Lower level platforms like Survey Monkey have impressive, full MCP implementations, can upload survey drafts, have it do the coding / adjustments like, comprehensive findings analysis, etc.  Pretty much anything you would do in Survey Monkey can be automated via AI workflows, or simply using their web interfaces.   Makes a HUGE difference,   Qualtrics data tab (text IQ, Stats IQ) totally outdated.  Also Qualtrics Workflow can be unreliable.  Writing same response to a google sheet twice, missing a response, etc.  IQualtrics “MCP” limited to mapping what can be done with Qualtrics rather than “full-blown MCP”    Now I’m not going to use Survey Monkey for our enterprise level surveys for obvious reasons but not having a highly capable MCP integration is inexcusable at this p

 I have question 3 with the multiple option, and question 5 with multiple question as well. Wne respondent selected multiple options in both Q3 and Q5. I want Q9 in such a way that Based on your experience in your 1st selected region, how does 1st selected variety perform across these key traits? Please rate each trait on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 means "low" and 5 means "high." I have provided all question format below that I wanted. Similarly, Based on your experience in your growing 1st  selected region, how does 2nd chosen variety perform across these key traits? Please rate each trait on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 means "low" and 5 means "high." and so on looping all the options selected in Q3 and Q5. We are conducting a pre-/post-survey where we will need to match respondents to their previous responses. To do so, we’re asking for their name in the post-survey. But in the post-survey, we also want to ask them to provide feedback on the program. We believe that we will get better responses if the respondents know the survey is anonymous. Our solution at the moment is to have them complete two surveys: one where they self-identify and the other where they do not.But it got me thinking, is there a way to set up a survey so that part of the survey isn’t linked to a particular respondent? I’m thinking this could be helpful in blinded trials where you wouldn’t want the researcher to have access to certain aspects of the responses.I hope this makes sense. Interested to hear if you all have a solution that doesn’t entail having the respondents complete two surveys (we’re worried about low response numbers if we ask them to do two surveys).Thanks!

HiI’d like to know if the surveys I made with over 30 questions during the free trial can retain those number of questions, or will it be restricted to just 30 after the trial ends like all the advanced question types.Thank you

I am administering a survey to students by sending them the survey link through their learning management system (LMS). The base survey link is an anonymous link, and I'm using a feature in the LMS to append their unique Student ID to the end of the link, so that we can record their Student ID as embedded data in each response. There would be NO contact/mailing list linked to the survey; only the students who receive the link via the LMS are eligible to take the survey.I want to prevent students who have already submitted a completed survey from taking it again. (By "completed," I mean the student has submitted their response and the survey is recorded in my response data.) I don't think the usual "prevent duplicates" strategies (e.g., Prevent Ballot Box Stuffing) would work in this case because students could take the survey on a different computer or device, or using a different browser.Specifically, I need the survey to check — immediately u

I am starting a survey where I need to present 250 email messages, but each participant receives a random 10-message subset, so within each participant’s session the 10 messages are presented in a random order, one at a time., followed by follow up questions. What is the best way to do this, and how can I import 250 messages to appear as individual questions?

I need to export responses from different surveys in a simple way and, ideally, the same process.  For example, one time at day, export every new responses of every surveys together in the same process. How could we do that?

Hello. I am using retake links to route sequential emails to multiple approvers for one survey. When the original respondent submits the survey, an email is triggered to Reviewer 1 with a link to “retake” the survey. Reviewer 1 is only shown the appropriate block of questions where she can confirm her approval. Reviewer 1’s responses are then added into (integrated with) the original respondent’s responses--nothing is added as an additional response and none of the original data are overwritten. However, when Reviewer 2 receives his email with his retake link, he’s shown the correct block of questions but when he submits his approval, his responses are showing up as an additional response--not integrated with the original respondent’s or with Reviewer 1’s. My Data and Analysis page looks like the image below. Viewing the first entry (the bottom one) shows the respondent’s and Reviewer 1’s responses all integrated together. I'm using the Qualtrics `/API/v3/surveys/{surveyId}/export-responses` API with the `"format": "csv", "useLabels": "true"` parameters. There is a multiple choice response option in my data of 'None=1' and these responses are being excluded from the API export and simply showing up as empty values. In other words, within a side-by-side question with multiple choice answers of `1 None,2 Mild,3 Moderate,4 Severe,5 Extreme,888 No response`, all responses except for ‘None=1’ (and 888, which uses the ‘excluded from analysis’ option in the survey) are being returned with the data. If I manually download the data from the web application then the 'None' values appear in the data. I did not find any exception in the survey template that point to a reason why the 'None' values should be excluded from the data. The only portion of the survey template with an explicit exclusion are the `888` values.Is this a known bug in the API or is there some other reason this data is being excluded fr

Hello,I am recruiting participants via Prolific for my experimental study on Qualtrics. A relatively high percentage of participants drop-out, resulting in an unequal division between my Control and Experimental group. Is there a way on Qualtrics to see where these participants dropped-out in my study (e.g. in which block/page)?

Okay, so let me first explain my thesis set-up. I am researching CTA’s (call-to-action) in e-mail texts and want to find out if people can identify phishing from not-phishing by the CTA that is used. To do this I gathered 4 e-mail texts from a fraud database. These e-mail texts have been classified as phishing mails and each have different CTA. I also gathered 4 texts from my own inbox which are non-phishing mails, with a CTA. I have created a typology of four common used CTA’s in phishing and marketing. Then I manipulated the texts so every version has every CTA. This rounds up to 32 versions (8 texts x 4 CTA’s). I am going to test with a survey. I have created one with a randomizer of 4. Now I have a sticky situation. I want to make sure every respondent gets different texts and different CTA's. I want to avoid having to use multiple different surveys because I am messy and have little faith in me keeping track of everything. So how can I make sure every respondent gets 4 diferent

We are creating a user deprovisioning/deletion policy and looking to see what everyone else does. We have hit our user seat limit multiple times. How do you manage regularly deleting inactive user accounts at your company?Here is some relevant information I’ve learned and the associated problems:Deleting a user can be done via the API:This deletes any contact lists the user has Survey workflows and library messages stay, so existing surveys don’t break. Surveys don’t get deleted but float in space. Concern: Surveys need to be transferred manually in the admin console (by design; I checked with Qualtrics support), and some of my users have over 400 surveys. Exception: you can call the update survey API to update an owner - but have to make this call for one survey at a time and using the current owner’s API key…. so first you have to assign everyone at the organization an API key…. and figure out where t

The usual duplication (ballot box stuffing) detection prevents multiple responses from the same user for pre-survey exclusion, or requires that the user complete the survey and be excluded/flagged afterward after the response appears to be a duplicate. We have recently encountered a different issue that we would like to prevent in the future. We provide anonymous links with an access code, but someone posted their code to social media. How can we limit the number of responses per code? I’ve poked around in workflow and survey flow but found nothing that seems to be suitable.

Hi,I have 2 questions in the survey: one about birth year and the other about age group.I want the age group category question to be pre-populated based on the birth year.The age group choices are Boomer, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. I do not want respondents to see the age group question, so I want to hide it.But in the data, I need the answer values based on the birth year selected from the previous question.Can we do it without using JavaScript? If not, help me with a JS code.

I am trying to test a survey with a branch that only displays for certain users based on embeded data. When I send the survey preview, I don’t see that branch for that distribution group as I think I should. 

Hello everyone! I have a block in my survey where I expect the participants to give me the right answer on five multiple choice questions. I want to make these questions reappear, but only if the participant gets them wrong and only the question they got wrong. Is it possible to make questions repeat themselves based on the given answer and independently of the other questions in the block? Thank you very much in advance for your help!

I want to create a filter using a piece of embedded data from survey flow that is not currently brought into the “ticketing dataset” but shows up on the ticket under the survey response/embedded data at the end. Is there 1) a way to do this without having to mess with the ticketing dataset and 2) would it work retroactively?I would prefer not to mess with the data set as we have multiple surveys mapped to this single dataset and I only need this 1 piece of embedded data from 1 survey pulled in, it does not apply to all surveys using this dataset. 

We have a form that needs to collect a user’s SSN, we don’t want to keep this info for obvious reason so we’d like to programmatically delete/mask this field after a ticket action.I haven’t found a straight forward way to do this via workflow or API...any suggestions? Thank you,Adam

Hi please add a function for disabling Qualtrics' auto suggested answer choices. Most of the surveys we plan have preplanned question and answer choices. We don’t need Qualtrics to suggest the answer choices. This feature is counter productive as we have to delete the new answer choices everytime.

Can Qualtrics identify and flag vague or ambiguous responses in open-text questions (e.g., Additional Comments)?Are there any native features (like Text iQ) or workarounds to detect low-quality or non-informative text responses automatically?

All the questions in my survey are mandatory and I am typically able to see in progress and completed responses separately. However, about 50% of the responses in the “data table” section appear blank, and the same ones in the “results” section say “N/A”.  This is highly confusing and concerning for me. If they are incomplete responses, they should have appeared in the ‘in progress’ section. How could so many blank or incomplete responses have been recorded? If that’s not the case, where has the data gone?  Also, I would like to add that I am on a free account. Is this a problem that people on free accounts are facing specifically?
