Dear Qualtrics community,

I have been struggling with this task for several days and appreciate any lead! It should be such a simple thing to do in theory. I hope I am missing an easy solution.

In a big survey (>100k responses), the country parameter c (embedded data) stopped working at some point due to technical issues.

For those respondents who now don’t have c assigned, I would like to use Q_Language as a proxy of their country (not ideal but better than nothing) = step 1. For those respondents where Q_Language that does not equal a country (e.g. c=JA but Q_Language=JP), this should be adjusted to the country = step 2.

I have tried the following approaches when setting up a new data field but none of them were successful:

• Survey editor, Data tab: Field editor: create new field (coasce) based on c and Q_Language → this gives me country_extended (=step 1) but I can’t make any adjustments/recode in there that allow for step 2. Also, in the field editor I am not able to set up a new variable based on country_extended
• Survey editor, Data tab: manually adjusting/bulk editing country_extended for step 2 → I am not able to bulk edit country_extended, it just doesn’t show up as being adjustable
• Survey editor, Data tab: download data, run step 2 manually, reupload data → the data file is too big, doesn’t upload
• Stats iQ: I actually was able to run step 2 in there but this variable is not available in the data tab nor on the dashboard where I also need it
• Dashboard data mapper: When importing country_extended, it doesn’t allow for recode adjustments
