Anonymous Survey Check XM Directory | XM Community
Skip to main content

We have a survey that uses an anonymous link/QR code for guests to send in comments and suggestions. Some submit directly through the survey, but others fill out handwritten cards that we transcribe into the survey at a later date. I am looking to check through an XM Directory Task or Web Service task in Workflow to see if the email they provide is already in our directory.

Ideally, I’d like this Guest Comment survey to be added to their directory timeline as a touchpoint, but I am not sure if this is even possible within the platform. Any thoughts?

Hello @nryalls,

I would suggest you to try workflow once.

You can set up a workflow using the ‘Survey Response’ event. Add a condition that the ‘Email’ field is not empty. Then, add an ‘XM Directory’ task to add the data to the mailing list.

This will add the survey response to the contact's timeline in the XM Directory. If the email from the survey response isn't already in your directory, a new contact will be created.

Let me know if this helps.

@Sachin Nandikol So I was able to get this to work in terms of adding the contact to the XM Directory, but this survey is not appearing in the timeline of the contact in the directory. Any advice there?

Hello @nryalls,

As per my knowledge, You cannot directly connect responses from an anonymous link with any particular contact in the XM Directory. To add survey responses to the timeline of a particular contact you will have to distribute personalized links. When a respondent completes the survey using a personalized link, their responses can be linked to their contact information in the XM Directory & you will be able to see it in their timeline.

Let me know if this helps.
