I have survey results from different periods, but when I want to compare those (with either multiple sources or breakouts) I get other results than expected.
Example:
Period 1: Brand A: 28%, Brand B: 26%, ect
Period 2: Brand A: 32%, Brand B: 26%, ect
Then in the barchart with the combined results I get:
Period 1: Brand A: 35%, Brand B: 42%, ect
Period 2: Brand A: 65%, Brand B: 58%, ect
(Note that the total for each brand is 100%).
I only get this with single respons questions. If I compare multiple response questions and choose 'percentage of responses' the correct results appear.
How can I compare these periods in the right way?

I believe what is happening is that the widget it trying to equal 100% across the two periods you are comparing. In the widget, I would experiment more with the "Metric values". For instance:
Metric value (default): The chart will show the numeric count of each data point. The chart will display a number.
Metric value/ Total: The chart will show the result of the calculation (numeric count/total number of responses). The chart will display a percentage.
Metric value/ Row total: The chart will show the result of the calculation (numeric count/total number of responses in the x-axis dimension). The chart will display a percentage.
Metric value/ Column total: The chart will show the result of the calculation (numeric count/total number of responses in the data series). The chart will display a percentage.

My hunch is that if you try all four of these metric values that one of them will fit your need...probably row or column total depending on how you have set up the widget.
