Counterbalanced Questions in Longitudinal Study | XM Community

Hello, I am quite new to Qualtrics and am building a study where there are a total of 12 vignettes. In the first study, participants will answer 6/12 vignettes. Each vignette has a pair associated with it so in the second study the participant will answer the other 6/12 vignettes.

I am wondering if there is a way to ensure when the participant sees one vignette in the first study, its partner is shown in the second. They are shown either one of two options the first time and I need them to see the option they didn’t see the second time.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @meganddoyle ,

Perhaps you can try adding an embedded data scenevalue = 1 or 2 when using randomizer to split them to view first or second 6 vignettes.

Next, update the contact list with the embedded data scenevalue using workflow.

Then, in your second survey, add scenevalue from contact list and set up 2 branches.

1st branch, if scenevalue=1, display the second 6 vignettes.

2nd branch, if scenevalue=2, display the first 6 vignettes.
