Created fields not copying over when survey duplicated | XM Community

At the end of a course, we survey our students to seek their feedback; the survey is standardised and specific to each course (eg faculty name, course name, course dates etc).  I have therefore created a ‘master’ copy that is copied and updated for each course.

Embedded in the survey are four created fields that convert star ratings to German scores (in the German system, 1 = best ie 5 stars, and 5 = worst ie 1 star).  I took this approach as I couldn’t recode the star values so that 5 stars = 1; 4 stars = 2 etc.

However, whenever the survey is copied, the calculated fields disappear, ditto for the reports that show findings.

How can the survey be copied over in its entirity, calculated fields and reports included?

Huge thanks.

Hi @rebeccaloades,

Instead of copying the survey directly each time, create a survey template. In the template, include all the questions, settings, calculated fields, and reports that you want to replicate for each course survey.

Make sure that the calculated fields are part of the survey template. These calculated fields should be set up within the survey itself, using embedded data or JavaScript functions.

Similarly, if you have specific reports that you want to include for each course survey, save them as report templates. This way, you can easily apply the same report structure to each survey instance.

When you need to create a new survey for a specific course, use the survey template you created. This will ensure that all the components, including calculated fields and report templates, are included in the new survey instance.

Test the Copied Survey and you can ensure that calculated fields and reports are included when copying the survey for each course instance.
