Hi there,

I have created a series of slider-type questions (3 slider responses per question). However, when I download the data, rather than the variable name ending with “_1” (for the first slider), “_2” (for the second) and so on, they all end in _42, _43 and _44, for some reason. As far as I am aware, no other sliders were added and deleted to make up the first 41 slider responses, if this were the issue, so I have no idea why these are appearing as such.

So, I was wondering if there was a way of changing the _42, _43 and _44 to _1, _2 and _3 for the question numbers, without having to remake the project again from scratch.

Slider questions cannot be recoded. Only below question types are available for recoding. 

  • Multiple choice
  • Matrix table
  • Rank order
  • Side by side
  • Constant sum (Type – Choices)
  • Graphic slider

 

If you are exporting and sending data in excel to your client, then you will need to recode that question every time. If you are representing the data in the dashboard then you can recode it there.

You can follow few tricks, you can create embedded fields, named it as _1, _2, _3 and capture the values of slider under that and can download the recorded response of embedded field instead of slider questions. Else you can create tables under result dashboard, you can give the column name as _1, _2, _3 and also add additional column of response ID or email ID to validate the data. Then download the data of those three sliders from result table.
 

Simply map those values into a new ED field named correctly
