Dataset with 50 Variable | XM Community

Hello everyone,

I have a question that you might be able to answer. I rely on the swarm intelligence.

I have a data set with more than 50 variables for a question (recodes of an unaided brand awarnes), each variable contains a brand and the remaining responses are filled with 0.
I would now like to merge these and exclude the "0" so that I get the total number of brand mentions at the end.
I have tried it with "Add new Variable" and "Combine" but this has not led to the desired result because the "0" values were simply taken over and you can only combine a maximum of about 20 variables.

Perhaps someone else has already had this problem and has a solution

@SteffenE With this kind of unusual case, I would recommend you to create an empty embedded data field in your set. Export everything, handle it via Excel, combine the fields to the empty one and Import it back. Qualtrics feature isn’t made for such complex data processing.

Hope it helps

@Nam Nguyen Thank you for your reply - I suspected as much, but was hoping that it would work without having to use Excel or redefine the data set.
