"Discard changes" pop-up when no change made to settings | XM Community

Hi everyone,

Mohsen here, client experience analyst based in Wellington, New Zealand.

I receive a pop-up message every time I want to move from the dashboard data page to any other settings page. The message says “Are you sure you want to proceed without saving your changes” and it says “discard changes?” at the top.

I think this is unsettling because the user doubts whether they’ve made changes or not. Surely Qualtrics should identify if a user has actually made a change to settings and then show this pop-up message?

I appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you.

Mohsen

I prefer this than say when users navigate between dashboards in edit mode & accidentally save filters etc.  I would prefer that this pop up existed in any edit screen, and by default wasn’t autosaved.

I know it’s a bit different scenario, however I think the annoyance of pop-up is better than people making changes & not realising what they have done.  Will keep users cautious, which when it comes to the data I think not necessarily a bad thing myself.

Thanks for your reply, Scott. I believe we’re talking about two slightly different things.

My concern was mostly about the “Dashboard data” tab in “settings” where user makes no change to the dataset but is still shown the “save changes” pop-up.

Interestingly enough, this seems to have been fixed now. I don’t see a pop-up when I switch between the tabs which is great. Of course If someone does actually modify anything, they should be shown a warning message.
