Hi. I’m a researcher trying to create a survey in Qualtrics. My survey follows the following pattern:
Q1: A question with a recommendation (side by side format or 2 statements and one column) - agree or disagree
Q2: If disagree with #1, suggest an alternative - this is a text box.
If agree skip (through the skip pattern) to Q3, which is in a similar pattern as Q1 and so on…
These questions are categorized in blocks by sub-topic area. For example, block 1 is governance (in the picture above) and has 18 questions (9 sets in Q1/Q2 pattern)
I’d like each set (Q1/Q2) to appear together on the same screen in cases where respondents disagree with Q1, thereby negating the skip. However, as seen below, the questions appear on separate pages. Is there anyway to include these on the same page?
Page 1 / 1
Adding skip logic to a question always causes a page break immediately after the question.
Instead of using skip logic on the first question, use in-page display logic on the second question.
Thank you. I did try that - remove the skip logic from Q1 and add the display logic to Q2, i.e. display Q2 when “No = 2” for Q1. However, when I test it I find that the Q2 does not appear right after “No” is chosen for Q1. One has to go the next question/page, then return to the previous question page (i.e. Q1) for the Q1 and Q2 to be seen in the same page. Is there anyway to have Q2 appear immediately after “No” is selected for Q1?
In the Q2 display logic check ‘In Page’ on the bottom left.
I did include that, but it doesn’t appear to work. It still seems to require the Next → Previous selection for that to appear on the same page
Hi @dsokar,
There are some features that are incompatible with in page display logic.
Perhaps you can try changing the question type? For example, two MCQ being Q1a and Q1b, then display logic to be Q1a “No” or Q1b “No”?
Ah. Thank you. I have another question:
I am trying to share my survey with others. When I look on the preview pane, this is what it shows, which is correct
However, when I click on the publish on the link to distribute, the starting page is the below
Do you have any idea why this is so and what can be done to correct this?
Thanks, Karishma
Hi @dsokar ,
Did you click publish survey after you complete your latest changes?
Survey have draft and publish versions.
Draft version is changes you made to the survey but can only be seen through the preview by you or anyone else with the preview link.
Publish version is the 'official' version of the survey.
Hence, if you publish a survey (version A) previously and made changes to survey (version without republishing, the latest publish version will still be version A.
Hi @Chee Heng_SZ
I did click publish and still seem to be getting this old page. Funnily enough, that isn’t even the starting page of the old version, but is page 2.
The QR code appears to work just fine though, so I have no idea what is happening here. Any suggestions?
Hi @dsokar,
1 of the possible scenario I can think of is that "allow respondents to complete later" option is enabled in survey option and there was an incomplete attempt of the survey previously.
You can check if you have this option set and look at the "data & analysis" tab for any incomplete response.
