Emails not recording in data | XM Community

Hi,

I’ve been testing out my survey and went I email myself an invitation and I complete the survey, I’m finding my email is not recording in the data. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I’ve checked that the anonymous responding option is not ticked, but not sure what else to do.

Thanks,

L

Hi @lstuch. Let’s try to solve this.

  • How did you send the survey to your email? Via the regular distribution tab of the survey as personal link? If you are working with preview links, this could be an issue.
  • Did you check if in the “Data & Analysis” tab there is some incomplete response?
  • How is your “End of survey” element designed? Could you provide more insights about your setup?

Hey Christian,

I sent the survey through Distributions > emails > compose email > and then selecting myself from the contact list. How can I check if I am using preview links?

In the data and analysis tab, the sections for user first and last name and email address are blank, both there and when I download it. There initially weren’t spots for those bits of data, but I added them by clicking the plus button > contact fields > Recipient email/name. However after that, still no luck in recording the email.

The end of survey is nothing special, just the normal procedure with custom text displayed.

Thanks for your help,

Lewis

Hi @lstuch,

in the mailing list the standard contact fields (first name, last name, email) are available for your contact?

When you make the distribution, did you go with “Individual” survey link and “Send now” (instead of preview)?

Once you complete the survey, the standard recipient fields should be available in the “Data & Analysis” tab. There is no need to additionally define them in the survey flow as embedded data… This would only be relevant if it was custom embedded data fields which you want to populate to the response.

What does it show for distribution channel in your case?

And in the settings, this option is turned off?

Hi @lstuch ,

You may wish to check on your contact list as well.

This is to make sure that your contact list has your ‘FirstName’, ’LastName’ and ‘Email’ in the respective fields when importing contacts and not as additional embedded data fields like firstname, Lastname and email address.

Note: Field names are case-sensitive.
