Grouping Form Fields | XM Community

Hi All,

I have created a survey that asks the user to list their top 5 weekly tasks (form field), these form fields are carried forward and the user is then asked how much time they spend on each task, and how important each task is.

There are 2 things I want to do:

  1. Group the topics I create in Text iQ (there are 5 open ended questions to be analysed, one for each task). As it stands, I can only quantify the tasks for each form field entry (e.g. Coding is a Task 1 for 20% of users). What I’s like to also do is state what percent of users listed coding as a task in ANY of the 5 form fields?
  2. I have created follow up questions (using the ‘Carry Forward’ Logic). AT the moment, I can only view those answers by the Form Field names (e.g. Task 1, Task 2), not by the topics generated in Text iQ. Does anyone have a workaround for this?

Last question, I’m doing a retrospective on this survey to see what I could have done differently. It seems like form fields was a bad idea (the stakeholder insisted this had to be open-ended - not a pre-coded list, for valid reasons). However, I needed to be able to ask follow up questions for each specific task so I don’t think a text field would have worked either. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Clare

Hi Clare,

Can you be more precise?

Hi @jbk ,

I’ve attached some screenshots, hopefully those help.

I have created a question asking the user to list the key tasks associated with their role (q7 screenshot). I then ask some follow up statements about each task (Q7b screenshot).

For Q7, we’ve had to use Text iQ to create topics for each individual form field. I now want to group the topics from all form fields so I can say ‘Report Generation’ for example, accounts for 20% of employees’ tasks (regardless of whether they put that in form field 1,2,3 etc). Also, I want to be able to say that employee’s spend X% of time on  Report Generation (Q7b), but I only seem to be able to show the results for Q7b using the form field name (Task 1 etc) as opposed to the actual task they input (e.g. Report Generation).

Hope this helps, I'm not sure I’m explaining it well enough

Thanks,

Clare

Hi @clareoflynn,

thanks for the explanation.

Are you using the dashboard to get the average? if yes, you can just use the custom field, you can add the necessary fields and rename them.
