How can I generate a score for a subscale ? | XM Community

Hi everyone,
I have a measure in my survey that consists of three subscales (for example one measuring depression, one measuring anxiety, and one measuring stress). I really don't want to have to manually add up the scores for each subscale. So, is there a way that I can generate a score in the data report/data file for each subscale for each respondent?

Thank you for any help in advance

Hi edmonds, not sure if this is what you're after, but if the challenge is that subscale values are in the form of words (e.g. "Yes", "Maybe", "No"), then you could leverage the Recode Values feature to assign a numeric "score" to each subscale value. You could then report easily on the recoded score rather than the text value. In Data & Analysis, you can create a new custom Formula Variable field that would sum the numeric values of your 3 subscales, thus providing you with a total score. This would also be reportable via Results/Reports.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Cameron
