I’m trying to figure out how I can recreate something like this in Qualtrics survey:

I’m trying to achieve:

Topic A

category 1

Category 2

Topic B

Category 1

category 2

Then people can write in a text box on the right side of each category. Please can someone help.

Hi @Gaurav_27 thank you for sharing however I have 15 main topics and some only have 1 category under it. So I think it’s best to format it from top to bottom (like list, shown in the screenshot).

Hi @MCchua

You can follow below step to recreate the question:

  1. select the matrix type question.
  2. change the matrix type from ‘likert’ to ‘text entry’
  3. Now remove all the statements
  4. Add a ‘Add statement group’ under Format for creating topics
    1. you can rename the group by clicking on it.
    2. Now add the  no of statement you require under that topic
    3. click again on ‘Add statement group’ to add next topic.
    4. Repeat step 6 to create the categories

Hello!

No code is needed, something is wrong in your setup somewhere. Are you using custom css or theming?

The following setup gives me the desired result :

I think you didn’t assign your choices to your groups.

We can accomplish this by using the Matrix Table question type and assigning the items as groups.
