Hello,
In our company, we are using one survey as a preparation where they put customer name, organization, product description etc and when it is done we have a workflow that triggers a distribute survey (XM Directory) with the corresponding survey selected in the preparation to the customer.
We have some trouble to track the preperation survey vs the response in another survey. How could we track which preperation correspond to which response easily ?

When you’re distributing second survey pass the response id of first survey as embedded data in directory and pull it in second survey.
Click on add or remove embedded data. Add the response id and use same embedded data in second survey it will auto fill values.
You should be able to link then.
