How to force respondent to select a scale after text entry | XM Community

Hi,
I have a matrix question that uses a Likert-scale point system. I have one response that is an "Other" that allows text entry.
I managed to create a custom validation which allows this answer option not be forced response. However, I want to force respondents to select an appropriate scale after they entered a text in "other" (in case they move to next question without select the scale). How do I do this?

Add another condition set with, if the box is not empty then one of the options should be selected.

Can anyone explain how to do this? The answer doesn't explain it well.
