Hello,
I'm looking to create a survey link with a pre-filled authenticator and embedded data to be able to track/capture existing customer data such as a customer ID and/or an email address. I read through the links on how to create a pre-filled authenticator and include embedded data but I'm still only able to get an anonymous link. How can I get a link to then be able to share and send via a separate platform outside of qualtrics but still track existing customer data that I uploaded into the qualtrics platform?
nmunshi To capture existing customer data using an Anonymous Link, you'll need to add an Authenticator to the survey flow. When taking the survey all respondents will need to enter either their email or customer ID (external data reference) to link their response to the data already collected in XM Directory.
Thanks you jmborzick. I added a pre-filled authenticator to the survey so that the survey takers wouldn't have to enter the information themselves, but I'm still not clear on how to retrieve a single link to provide to multiple customers outside of the qualtrics platform.
nmunshi It is not possible to have a single link authenticate against the directory without the respondent entering in information. The only way to link directory data with a person without them entering either email or their ID# is to send them unique links
I see. Might you then clarify the purpose of a pre-filled authenticator? jmborzick
nmunshi The only time I have used a pre-filled authenticator is if I am authenticating a survey based on other questions within the survey. I might then pipe in text from that area of the survey to pre-fill an authenticator that appears later in the survey. The only other reason would be to have the authenticator prefill with values from unique links given to each respondent.
Ok thanks. So if I send personal links, I would still need to add an authenticator to have the information included in the final report data, is that right?
nmunshi That is correct. There isn't a way to link a response back to the directory without some unique identifier either included in the referring URL or entered by the respondent.
Ok great, thanks for your help!
