I have a matrix table that I'm looping over, with some freeform entry answers at the end (Other 1: _________, Other 2: _______ etc)
Currently, in the looping questions, these are displayed without the text entered, e.g.:
This is obviously not helpful, as the respondent will have no idea what "Other 1" is. Is there any way to include the actual text they entered as well?
You want to change your piped text. In the question body, whatever piped texted is after "about the way you track "... (should look something like ${lm://Field/1}), that's what you'll want to modify to be the value of the answer rather than the value of the statement.

In your Loop and Merge options, what if you bump your dropdown to run off Select Choices: Entered Text? What does that do for you?
Preliminary testing for me shows Apple but also Other 1's text entered:
Loop 1
Loop 2 (Pineapple's my text, of course)
See if that fits your needs!
https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/41398#Comment_41398I’m looping over a matrix table, and want to loop over only the options for which the first column is selected. If I select to loop over Selected Choices: Entered text, won't that loop over all of them?
Only the ones the user selects, by definition, right? The option is called Selected Choices:... If they don't select, the loop doesn't include. At least, that was my experience in my screenshots. Only way to confirm this is in preview; make the change and see what happens!
https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/41400#Comment_41400It's a matrix table. In your tests, you are not using a matrix table, but a simple multiple choice question. Let's suppose we have columns A, B, C, and D. I only want to loop over options where the user selected A. Even if the user selected B, C, or D, they are still "selected" and will be looped over if I use "Selected choices: Entered text". Whereas right now I use "Selected choices: A" and it works (except the problem I described).
I actually am using a MT multi-answer, I only have 1 column :)
I am getting a better picture of what you're trying accomplish now, though. I added 3 more columns to my example for a more accurate solution and here is the best I could come up. I piped in the question text from the Other 1 Text (you'll need to add this for Other 2 as well) and added them as a second Field in The L&M Options. Then, I added in a hyphen and a space for readability:
I then changed the Question text in the body of my question to include the second column of my L&M Options:
So the survey previews out like this:
If Field 2 is blank, no one's the wiser (cause the hyphen handling is done inside Field 2 itself rather than in the question text). if Field 2 exists, it displays to the user.
I apologize for misunderstanding your intentions at first. Coulda saved us a few messages. Let me know if that meets your standards.
https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/comment/41403#Comment_41403That worked beautifully, thank you so much!!
Thank you for your patience in troubleshooting!
