New User Has Access to Unshared Projects | XM Community
Skip to main content

Hello! I have noticed that when I create new users, they are automatically being granted access to survey and intercept projects that have not been shared with them. When I check the collaborators on all of the projects, the new user is not listed for any of them. They are also not part of any group that has access to those projects. I’m sure it must be one of the user settings, but I can’t figure out which one it would be.

Example image - this is a new user that we created. No projects have been shared with this person yet, however they have immediate access to 27 projects.

Appreciate any guidance!

@erinmunoz It‘s interesting because on the left side it says that all are „Shared with me“ which indicates collaboration. What if you expand that? Shared by whom?

If they were part of a group, then there would be a dedicated folder for the group.

@chackbusch It is really interesting. I logged in as the owner of the survey to check who it was shared with, and the new user isn’t on the list or in the group. I have no idea how any of the surveys would be shared with a newly created user that hasn’t been added to any groups yet. When I expand the side menu, the owners are all from different departments and generally unrelated. They aren’t even all in the same groups. None of them know about the dummy account I set up, so there isn’t any way for them to have shared. That’s why I find this so confusing - I’m guessing it must be a permission somewhere, but I don’t know which one.

@erinmunoz Think I found it.

For website/ app insights, the „Access Website Feedback“ permission grants access to all of those projects.

I think Qualtrics set up intercept projects so that anyone with Website Feedback access can see them.

@chackbusch - Yep, the intercept projects I understand. The surveys aren’t part of the intercept projects, though and are not shared.
