Reliability of panel survey data | XM Community

There is much debate on my team about the reliability of panel survey data. I have found that our survey scores tend to be much higher when conducted by panel, in comparison to our surveys that are directly sent to our customers via email.

I’m curious to hear others’ thoughts on how trustworthy they think panel data is. And how do you combat false responses or bots when conducting a panel study?

@ash123,

You absolutely have to protect yourself against bad actors when using panels. Otherwise, you will get many responses from bots, fraudsters, professional survey takers, etc.

We use Research Defender. It is more comprehensive than the built-in Qualtrics bot detection/RelevantID options, and in a head-to-head comparison it seemed to do a better job at identifying fraud.
