How do I set up my scoring so there’s no correct/incorrect scores. I’d like the multiple choice questions to give a single 1 of 4 category result based on the scoring of questions answered. Similar to a personality quiz “Thanks! you’re an introvert!”.

Please refer below link for scoring setup. These are well defined details, you can take reference.

I have the same question. I want scoring, but I do not want wrong answers. I would like points to be added up without a numerator or denominator. @ArunDubey  your answer isn’t helpful.

Hi @monergist ,

Technically speaking, I believe ArunDubey’s comment answered EJB’s question.

There is a section Setting Up Scoring Categories which EJB can use to set up Category A, Category B, Category C and Category D.

And within each category, points can be added to contribute to that category.

For example, “Introverts” category

How often do you hang out with your friends?

  1.  Very rarely (At least once a year) - 5 points to “Introverts”
  2. Seldom (At least once a month) - 4 points to “Introverts”
  3. Often (At least once a week) - 3 points to “Introverts”
  4. Very often (At least once every few days) - 2 points to “Introverts”
  5. Always (Everyday) - 1 point to “Introverts”

“Extroverts” Category

How often do you hang out with your friends?

  1.  Very rarely (At least once a year) - 1 point to “Extroverts”
  2. Seldom (At least once a month) - 2 points to “Extroverts”
  3. Often (At least once a week) - 3 points to “Extroverts”
  4. Very often (At least once every few days) - 4 points to “Extroverts”
  5. Always (Everyday) - 5 points to “Extroverts”

Then, in the survey flow near the end, add branch logic to see if the score for the individual categories meets certain threshold and to display the respective text.

Respondents will not be able to see the points by default unless “score summary” is enabled.

Thanks, @Chee Heng_SZ

Not to harp on about it, but pasting a link to a long tutorial, when people like me have already read it and still had a question, isn’t very helpful.

But your post is a little helpful. I’ve setup categories, but it seems Qualtrics is limited since answers cannot be neutral. I’d prefer the respondent to simply see their results in the form of points without a fraction. The fraction indicates that there were right and wrong answers.

I’ve also noticed that with categories, Qualtrics does not show score summary at the end of survey results for each block. It only displays the results for one block. I’ve remedied this by creating a category called Score, and placing all of my items under it, but now it gives me a fraction with percentage at the top. If possible, I’d want each block to have it’s own percentage.

Hi @monergist ,

Scoring is generally used as a marking system to be shown to the respondent or a hidden variable for the survey creator to change the flow of the survey. Hence, the scoring summary seems rather limited in customisation at the moment. You may wish to visit the “IDEAS” tab at the top of this page to suggest to Qualtrics to improve the “scoring” feature or vote for any other existing suggestions.

In the meantime, if you wish to have something similar, you could create a text/graphic before the end of survey and piped text in the respondent’s selected option with the relevant percentage being calculated by your own formula.

Also, please create a separate thread as your purpose differs from the current question thread by EJB

Thank you.
