"Sorry, this survey has already expired." - after updating survey | XM Community

Hi Everyone,
I have a student that had published her a survey and collected some dummy data to ensure everything was working fine.
In the first part of the study there was a link to a google document. We decided to update the survey so that the link opened in another tab, rather than needing the participant to navigate back to continue on with the survey. We added  target="_blank" to the HTML code for the link (after trying it out on a separate survey). When she previews the survey it works exactly as expected.
However, now she cannot get the survey to work - she is presented with "Sorry, this survey has expired" each time. She has republished the study and has created a new link, but still we get "Sorry, this survey has expired". We have double checked on a few different computers and the same happens each time.
Any advice or guidance would be really appreciated!

Also - just as an update. If I export the questions into a new survey everything works as expected. Very intrigued with regards to what has happened!
