Survey questions are not being presented to participants after small edit "this question was not displayed to the respondent" | XM Community

Hi everyone,

I am currently experiencing issues with the responses to my survey. I made a slight edit to my survey, merely adding a page break, then re-published the survey. Now in the “Data & Analysis” section it says that the respondants are not being shown the rest of the questions following where the page break was put. It just gives the prompt “this question was not displayed to the respondent”.

 I tried taking the survey myself using the survey link and everything seems in order, I am displayed everything and it shows in the “Data & Analysis” section afterwards. The survey contains no randomization or anything of that sort, only blocks containing the different questions.

The issue as mentioned occured after the edit, and prior to that all respondents have answered the full survey without fail.

Hope you can help!

@Mahacbs

Try to check if the response was finished or partial response has been recorded.

Usually when a respondent closes the browser without finishing and you record it this message shows up.

Hope it helps!

Sounds like something that support would be able to answer as they would be able to look at your account.

Hope you can resolve it soon!

Thank you for the quick response!

I tried to check for that, it does appear as if partial responses have been recorded. However, this still slightly baffles me, as it did not happen until after the edit, that respondents stopped taking the whole survey. It just seems highly unlikely to me, that the partial respondents all stop at the exact same place in the survey, right after the edit has taken place. Yet the link provided seem completely functional.

Try to check if any flow is skipping the questions to end of survey. Or raise a support ticket for same.

@Mahacbs ,

This is definitely an interesting observation. Can you be sure that the customer’s didn’t just happen to quit the survey at the same time? How many customers did you see that fell into the “respondent was not shown this question”? Did they just duck out of the survey early?  Sometimes I have assumed something happened for a specific reason in the past, when my assumption as to why it was happening was wrong.
