Using Qualtrics survey software for document workflow | XM Community

Looking for thoughts and experience from other in the Qualtrics community about the pros and cons of using the survey software as a means of document workflow (form submission).

Our institution has a number of software options and some people want to use Qualtrics for collecting operational information / form intake.  We have other software that is specialized for online documents (ie Drupal) but their are not approved for sensitive information the same way Qualtrics is.

What’s your experience?  What worked?  What didn’t?

I’ve used Qualtrics for a couple forms rather than your typical survey questionnaires before. It went smoothly for the most part, but a difficulty that we did face was with the validation options available in Qualtrics. We weren’t able to put in place certain validation criteria if it wasn’t already a pre-built option or if we couldn’t find the JS code online to customize it.

In general, for certain items that you might want to have in a form, such as having a calendar date picker icon, you would have to know JS coding or be able to find the code online. This was a struggle for me, since I’m not too familiar with JS.

Also, when downloading/exporting text entry responses into a CSV file, we noticed that certain symbols like an apostrophe in the respondent’s answer might cause weird characters to appear within the downloaded results file, which required a lot of Excel cleaning for us.
