Using survey metadata for arithmetic calculations | XM Community

Hi,
I am trying to use survey metadata "SurveyID" to create a new embedded data "current end" and "previous end" through a calculation as follows:
image.pngIs this the correct way of doing it? I tried it and it does not seem to be working.

Survey Id(e.g: SV_0ctrqQWXrhrr0ky) is not a numeric value to perform arithmetic operations on it is a string value. Hence, this approach would never work. If i may ask what are you trying to calculate or achieve here can you elaborate?

Okay got it. I have thought of using the participant ID to calculate what I have above to achieve the survey flow of blocks I want. Any numeric metadata of that sort I can use? I want it to start from 1, that is the first participant to take the survey.

Unsure what you're trying to achieve can you elaborate more is it like 1st person who visits survey will view first block?

This is in relation to a previous post I made:
https://community.qualtrics.com/XMcommunity/discussion/22696/randomizing-item-rankings-using-a-randomisation-list-across-multiple-questions-and-participants#latest
Basically, I am trying to create a way where I can show questions in a specific order from a randomisation list to every participant. You can read more about it there.
But for this post, I found a way by using the Quota section of Qualtrics to get the responder IDs 1,2,3... Head over to the post link to see how I did it. We can continue the discussion there.
