+1I have a problem with the validation on this question. At the moment answers are required to the first 5 sub-questions and to ‘Other’ sub-question IF the respondent types something in the box. However, an answer is NOT required for the sub question: "Multimedia stories that use a combination of the above", but I need it to be. What am I doing wrong?!

+27Your validation image is too small to see and open ends in matrix questions should be avoided because they are confusing to respondents and the data is of limited value.
As for you validation, check to make sure recode values on the first five rows and the last row are not empty (row1 recode not empty AND row 2 recode not empty AND … AND row7 not empty). Then for your open end in a separate AND logic set, check to make sure the recode is empty AND the open end is empty OR the recode is not empty AND the open end is not empty.

Actually, the last sub-question, 'Multimedia stories...', is only required if the 'Other, please specify' sub-question is NOT answered.
If the 'Other, please specify' sub question IS answered then the 'Multimedia stories...' sub-question is can be left unanswered (this shouldn't be allowed). The 'Multimedia stories...' sub-question should always be required.
