What is the difference between copying a project vs importing a .qsf file?

I' m curious about the import survey by importing a .qsf file. When I've attempted to import a survey using .qsf, I'm not import a survey to the project I'm in, importing a survey creates a new project and survey.
QUESTION 1 Are there any instances where a qsf file can be imported to a project which doesn't create a new project?
After QR codes are distributed and there's an interest in revising the survey, but NOT having to change the QR code - it would be helpful to be able to import a new survey to a project without being forced to create a new project and new survey.
QUESTION 2 Are there any difference from creating a survey from within a project (which for me appears to be the same as copying a project from the main project interface where I see all my projects.
