Try going in Rich Content Editor source and see if something is appending the * purposely and remove that element.

+11Unfortunately, this was not the issue. The asterisk is present at the beginning of all the survey questions in this one survey so I suspect it is something in the program. None of my other surveys have this issue.

+11Alvie figured it out. I was using Simple layout. When I changed to Flat, the asterisks went away.
