Can I add a variable after I export data? | XM Community

I was wondering if, after the data set is exported, I could add another variable to the data. For this survey, we didn't need to ask for demographic questions because we have ways to identify those characteristics. Since we didn't ask for them in the survey, though, we can't use them in the analysis. Can I add or maybe even manipulate an existing variable into a new one (I'm trying to add Gender as a variable) and then import the new data set to run analysis?
hey @MoTimperley - You can refer to the below links for more info around your ask.

1. Manual Variables - https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/data-and-analysis-module/data/add-new-fields/manual-variables/

2. Bucketed Variables - https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/data-and-analysis-module/data/add-new-fields/bucketing-variable-creation/
Hello @MoTimperley , you must do several things, you must set the variable you want, in this case the variable "gender" as an embedded data in the survey flow, then when you go to data and analysis, you can add new column and select embedded data and select the gender variable, you should keep in mind that if in your database the gender variable is written in capital letters, it must be written as is in the survey flow when setting the embedded data so that it can be recognized. You just need to see it in data and analysis or will you also build a dashboard with the survey? In that case you have to be sure that the variable "Gender" is in the configuration as text set
