Date validation with flexibility | XM Community

I need the respondents to enter a date.
I know how to use validation to force a mm/dd/yyyy entry. There's got to be a way to allow m(m)/d(d)/yyyy entry. For example, April 2, 2000 could be entered as 4/2/2000 or 04/02/2000.
Is this a place where JS would be needed? I'm sure others have run into this before.

Might I ask what you are using the date for? If it is for the respondent to manually enter a date (for example, the date they started an activity or program), that makes sense. If it's only the date when they are taking the survey, you can use the recorded date as embedded data field in the survey flow -- I hope that helps...

It's their birth date.
