How to carry forward statements from multiple scale points | XM Community
Skip to main content

Question 1 asks respondents to rate multiple items on a 5 point scale from "Not important" to "Very important" using a matrix.
For question 2, I want to only display the items that were rated "4. important" or "5. very important." Respondents will then be asked to rank those items from most to least important.
For example question 1 might say "Please use the scale below (1-5) to rate how you value each item when considering a job offer"
Options:

  • Salary - 4

  • Vacation time - 4

  • Benefits/health insurance - 2

  • Location - 5

  • Company culture - 4

I would want any item that was rated "4. important" or "5. very important" to display on question 2, so everything except benefits in this case.
I'm having trouble setting up carry forward using multiple options (e.g. "select statements for scale point "4. important" AND "5. very important"). Is there a way to do this or a workaround?

msilver I would hard code this using display logic. It doesn't seem that you can select multiple scale points for carrying forward.
The downfall will be that they can be randomized but not necessarily in the same order. But it is also the QTip from the Carry Forward Page:
