I make heavy use of embedded data and calculations in building complex scoring for a survey, and after encountering a wide variety of weird errors and incorrect data, I finally realized that the question numbering in my survey does not match the QIDs assigned to questions when assigning values to embedded data fields. I.e. my question 10 is actually QID12.
By exporting and looking at the .qsf file for my survey, I kind of figured out that QID1 and QID2 were assigned to the default questions that were part of the survey template, which I promptly moved to trash when I first created my survey so I can import my questions. So, I emptied the trash, but the QIDs have still not been renumbered to match the actual question numbers.
Any ideas on fixing this? Thanks.

Once a question ID is assigned, we cannot change it, also that same question ID will not be assigned to any future question even if we delete this question.
In that case, is there a way to start a new survey with nothing in it, so that spurious QIDs don't get used up by questions I don't want?
