re-activating a closed survey | XM Community

Hi

What happens if you activate the survey after it has been closed? Will the data and responses (will need to create new individual links) be just added to the data collected before? Is it better to copy the closed survey and run the new collection efforts that way? and merge the two data sets later for analysis.

Thanks so much for your help!! I
Hello @Sumonk ,

You can activate the same survey again and the respondent can use same link provided there link or your survey is not expired
@Shashi is totally right about how the project and data work. Just wanted to add:

If you want to see if any of your old links are still active, you can download the distribution stats for emails:

!

Or for unique links just view that tab:

!

This way you know if you have any links out there that will become re-eligible when the survey is re-activated. That like will help you answer your final question:

> Is it better to copy the closed survey and run the new collection efforts that way? and merge the two data sets later for analysis.

If you aren't worried about old links becoming active, then it likely easier to re-activate your survey. If you don't want to those old participants to be able to still submit answers, then doing a Copy+Paste and merging the data sets might be smarter.
