Last quarter, we officially launched our new Badge of the Month program, which will run every month from here on out. The goal of this program is to bring together different thoughts and opinions about a new topic each month, so that the community can learn and grow together!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

During the first week of each month, we will post a new question, topic or activity for you to participate in and to help get the conversation going. Depending on the difficulty or complexity of the question / challenge, we will keep it open for 1 week or 2 weeks to ensure you have enough time to participate.
When the new Badge of the Month question / topic / activity is posted, feel free to leave a comment and invite others in the community to join in the conversation! If you see an opinion you can relate to or would love to hear more about what that person thinks, feel free to engage with each other and ask questions.
All community members who contribute to the post with a thoughtful comment, or engage with others will receive a badge. Each Badge of the Month post will indicate how long you have to respond to the post in order to receive the badge.

BADGE OF THE MONTH | NOVEMBER 2020

Participate in this month's discussion between November 2 and November 13 to receive this badge worth 10 points. If you miss out on responding to this post, don't worry, we plan to have a new question, topic, or activity every month so you can pop back in next time for your chance to participate, connect with others, and earn a badge!
Question: What's an experience you will never forget, or what's an experience you are saving up for? Why do you rate it as one of your top experiences, or why is it something you are saving up for?
Here at Qualtrics, employees are given something called an Experience Bonus every year, which is an allotted amount of money that can only be spent on an experience. Many choose to travel somewhere exotic or to participate in adrenaline filled activities like swimming with sharks or skydiving, while others choose to stay close to home and treat their family to a Michelin star dinner, create a new nursery or home theatre, purchase tickets to see Hamilton, and the list goes on! This opportunity forces employees to take the time to focus on experiences they would otherwise not spend or budget for. We're curious to hear about an experience you've always been thankful for, or if you were a Qualtrics employee, what would you spend your experience bonus on?

Night diving with giant manta rays off the Kona coast in Hawaii, feeling the force of their "wings" as the swam past you blowing you off your spot on the sea floor.

I'm perhaps not as adventurous as Radam, and chose to spend my experience bonus on something a little more safe (and food related).
My brother lives in New York and I'd classify him as an extreme foodie. He loves trying new restaurants - no matter how outrageous the food (or prices) may be. Often times, he'll eat at home for weeks on end to save up for a big night out at New York's finest. Between living in Utah and Seattle, I typically don't get enough time to venture across the country to visit him. Two summers ago, I finally made it to New York and wanted to use my experience bonus to treat him to something nice. I booked a reservation at Cote, an upscale Michelin star Korean BBQ restaurant. I probably couldn't tell you what half of these things were in the photos below, but needless to say, it was a dining experience we will never forget and worth every experience bonus penny (the pictures don't do the food justice)!

Cote is amazingly good!

My dream experience is to purchase a 1 month pass on a train and travel across the US and Canada. The trip would start by going up through DC and Chicago and, since the pass allows you to get on/off the train as many times as you want, I would spend some time in both. Then onto the Midwest states and Canada, all the way across to British Columbia. Next leg would be south through Washington, Oregon, and along the pacific coast of California. I would return via a central or southern route, stopping along the way to see places I've never been. I've been hoping to do this since I graduated college, but it still hasn't worked out.

Hello everyone!
What a good topic this month :)
I think that my dream experience is to visit New York during christmas season, I have not been in this city, but I would really love doing it. Definitely it is on my "To visit" list, next to Barcelona 😍. LaurenK you made me hungry with your post!!!
I think the most memorable experiences I've had are trips.
Experience 1: My last vacation was on San Andrés Island, here in Colombia. It was a trip in which I relaxed a lot and swam with the fishes in the sea, I went with my boyfriend and some friends, we had an incredible time. I really recommend you visiting this amazing island 🤩😍
IMG-20190605-WA0164.jpgExperience 2: Another excellent experience I had was when I went to Miami with Ricardo, a colleague from work. We went for a Bootcamp, and going out of your country because of job is a great thing, beyond that learning we had time to enjoy the beach and we even went to Orlando for the weekend, we visited Universal Studios Park and we had an incredible time in the world of Harry Potter, I had only gone once in 2010, so I did not remember a lot.
IMG_1376.jpegI remember that we had delicious dishes at Bubba Gump's restaurant, I love shrimp so I enjoyed a lot that food.
IMG_1426.jpegExperience 3: At work I have had great experiences with my team, my boss always tries to do differente activities, for example last year on december we went to "Escape rooms" It is a room(a place with a lot of rooms actually), in which they lock you up with your team and there are many clues to solve and find the way out.
Experience 4: This quarantine we had an online embroidery class with my boss(She is super expert at embroidery), a kit arrived to the house of each team member, it was a box with all the materials and super nice messages with fun facts from each team member.
IMG_9627.jpeg Also in the past, we have gone out to eat, to dance, to party and it is a lot of fun.
Experience 5: When my team(Ana and Ricardo) and I won tickets for the X4 Summit of this year, we were soooooooooo happy and I also got an amazing Community watter bottle (which I use everyday) some cool tshirts and stuff like that, this was a WOW moment for me, because I live in Colombia, so far away from Utah and getting this kind of gifts, openning them, seeing them its amazing!! Everytime I get some gift, or some giftcard I got really happy because distance is never a problem for being part of this Community.
If I were a Qualtrics Employee, I would spend my bonus in traveling, like a road trip maybe to Guatape (Colombia) because is really close to Medellin(where I live), or I would spend it in some great dinner with my family and my boyfriend, there is a lot of good places here in Medellin, so choosing between all of them would be "the problem" 🤣🤣

Thanks for reading me and sharing your experiences!!

Definitely, my dream expeerience will be made of time with my kids...
I have 4 boys and each of them is a different inspiration.

With Noah (14), I'll probably spend an all day long experience in a zoo, following the zookeepers beehind the scene and having a priviledged contact with exotics animals.
With Timéo (12), I'll probably go to Las Vegas to see the stars in his eyes looking at the American Ninja Warrior Final ! He loves this show and dream to become a ninja.
With Arthur (10), I'll go to the New Super Nintendo theme park in Japan. What a change of scenery for a little boy that live for discovery !
With Ewen (9), maybe I will find a cool bike ride somewhere in a majestuous place, or any kind of sporty adventure.

Last but not least, I'd love to bring my amazing wife to some exotic place like Australia, Kenya, Tibet, Machu Pichu, Venice...

What a great question. If I had an experience bonus, I would use it to take my family on the trip of a lifetime, most likely a grand European tour.
But when I think about experiences I've had that I wouldn't trade for anything, it would be when my kids and I were present for a baseball no-hitter, a rare event in any case and rarer still to see in person. This was for the Washington Nationals' single-A (minor league) affiliate in Woodbridge, VA. The team has moved to Fredericksburg and COVID is keeping all of us physically separated, so it represents a specific place and time that the world has moved on from. But the energy that night, the joy among the fans who were so aware and happy about what was going on, and sharing that experience with my kids, was absolutely unforgettable.

loved reading so many great experiences shared by everyone 😊what a better way to start the week.
My best experience has to be a trip to Kenya. We stayed in a cottage style hotel - fully solar powered run, in the middle of a jungle. The main hotel lobby/restaurant was at one side and cottages on the other side. What makes it unique

  1. since it was in a Jungle, we had be escorted by a guard from cottage to main lobby - animal scare😛

  2. They had big ponds were animals could come to drink water, I spotted a group of African elephants. And you can hear different animal sounds all through the night- scary and exciting both at the same time!

  3. The cottages were built to reflect how actual tribal people leave in different parts of Africa, so very basic and minimal

  4. Needless to say No Wi-Fi and no mobile network makes you take it real slow and enjoy.

We have a small dining table meant to seat 4, but we are a family of 5 (myself, boyfriend and his 3 kids). We've neglected the dining room in our spending on home improvements. But with a stipend for an experience, I would put it toward a larger dining table that the kids could help us pick out so we all feel like we belong and no one has to sit on a folding chair that's a little too short for the table.

A very peaceful and relaxing time for thinking and discussion. Took out the hectic airport experience (that they had to do on the way back because of time). I hope you get to do this one day.

Having an Experience Bonus would be a great opportunity to take my family on a trip outside of the U.S. where we didn't have to worry about stretching our budget and having to say no to things that would be on our wish list of things to see/do well we were traveling. So many of our vacations, we travel to a place that either my husband or I had visited previously so it would be fun to have a new experience as a family.

bstrahin I've taken 3 train trips already and I love them! My first was from New Orleans to El Paso--the most exciting part of that trip was exploring San Antonio and visiting the Alamo at 4:00 in the morning. The second trip was from NC to Montreal, Canada and back. That trip included a week in Montreal (amazing) and a layover in Washington DC that allowed for plenty of sight seeing. The last trip was from NC to New Orleans for the Tableau Conference--I got to bring my wife and mom along, so that was spectacular!

We went swimming with otters at the Nurtured by Nature nonprofit outside of San Diego. It required a $400 donation per person, which I think has gone up since. But it was so, SO worth it. Not only did we swim with otters, which was on my bucket list, but we got to interact with many other animals as well, including armadillos, sloths, kangaroos, porcupines, and lemurs (such cute little hands!!!). We were smiling the whole day, and the positive feelings lasted for many days afterward. It really made us realize how much experiences like this can impact you in a deep way...it's not just about getting good pictures!

https://www.qualtrics.com/community/discussion/13112/share-your-favorite-experience-badge-of-the-month-november-2020Sky diving. Jump from a plane. Feel the fear as the time of the jump becomes more real and fight that unexplainable fear of somwthing that you want thw most. And hope that the moment I jump I feel a relief of that fear followed by the greatness of the moment. Hopefully i will be looking down at something beautiful. And this this will be unforgetable. This picture associated to this feeling will make this beyond an experience. It will make a moment... the moment.
