Ok, I did it and it was actually quite easy (shame on me). Simply randomize the items of the first question and carry the statements forward (select "all" when implementing the carry forward). That did the job.
Worked like a charm, thanks!
Hi Neil, just click on the small arrow on the right side of your answer-option. A small list will unfold, that should also contain "Rich content editor", which you should select. In the box that will open afterwards, look for a button on the top right that looks like this: < > That's the button that enables Source-Code mode, which accepts html code. I hope that helps.
@dobra021 like I said and as you describe, this is only possible for custom errors. I have to change the default messages that Qualtrics shows by default, e.g., if you have a force response in a Matrix-Question, and a participant has forgotten to answer one of the options, the error message that is shown is something like "Please answer this question." but I want it to be "Please make a choice for each item."
Thanks for your response! I was afraid that it must be done via JavaScript, and unfortunately , all the coding that I am using in my survey stems from this board, as I have never learned how to code. Do you know how this could be done, @ysm1nz ? Or maybe someone else? Thanks a lot!
Perfect @C_Bohn that did the trick. Thanks a lot!
But this is only possible for custom validations, or am I wrong? Where can I find the default error messages that are already part of qualtrics and how can I manipulate them? For example, if if a question has the "Force response" option enabled, I will receive "Please answer this question." if I didn't choose something. Where exactly can I change this phrase?
Unfortunately, this only works for custom messages. I need to know how it works for standard error messages. For example when you say that at least one item must be chosen in a ranking question, it states something like "choose at least one" by default. But it can't change the color. It's always black and not very prominent.
Oh boy, I am just stupid. I didn't enter the code in HTML-view but in Normal view (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Thanks a lot for helping me out Tom! You just saved my job :D
Thanks for your quick response, Tom! I tried it using the following guide: https://osvaldas.info/elegant-css-and-jquery-tooltip-responsive-mobile-friendly I have pasted the HTML code into the CSS Box (Look & Feel --> Style --> Custom CSS) and saved it. Then I have copied the Java-Code into the Questions JavaScript addOnReady-area (I have replaced the "$" with "jQuery", as you suggested in your comment). Then I tried to write ``` <abbr title="User Experience" rel="tooltip">UX</abbr> ``` in an answer option. Unfortunately, it doesn't accept the code. It displays the following: ! Could you (or anyone) tell me where the problem is? Sorry for dumb asking, but I have literally zero experience in html or Java and am trying to put it together somehow.
Thank you so much, this works perfectly!
Additional questions: Is it also possible to edit the format of this standard error message: !
