@TomG Oh, I'll have to look into that. It may prove useful yet. I'm already putting it together in my mind... Thank you for all of your help!
@KumarA_156 I meant the question types inside of the side-by-side, sorry for not clarifying. Is your side-by-side all drop down, radio, checkbox, text, etc. If you are trying to assign default values from the hidden columns I'm pretty sure there is in option for that right in Qualtrics no need for JavaScript. If you are trying to pull the value out of side-by-side data you could try something like this. You'll have to inspect the side-by-side in preview mode to get the id of the responses as they will be different for each type of question, but it should look something like this. Mine was inside of a loop and merge so I have an extra variable that you may not. //this will select the element of the response var c5V= document.getElementsByName('QR~1_QID164#2~1'); //'QR~LOOPNUMBER_QUESTIONID#COLUMN~ROW~SELECTION' //this will loop all the radio options in the element (assuming it is a radio type) for(var i = 0; i < c5V.length; i++){ if(c5V[i].checked){ c5Val = c5V[i].value;
@TomG I am trying to figure out a way my survey participants can skip to specific loops when they need to. They are updating data we collect in previous years from an annual study. I thought the TOC may help me achieve that, but it would appear that is unlikely at this point given how you've explained it to me. Given the complexity and potential size of the survey splitting each loop into it's own block would make managing it a nightmare. I will keep your suggestion in mind though. Below is just a bit more on what I am doing with the survey. A single loop consists of 20ish data fields plus two matrices(8 columns, 8+ rows, varied data types). Multiply that by 20 to 130 potential loop iterations. It makes for a lot of data all of which need to have the results from the previous years filled in. I've accomplished what i have so by using a 3 Dimensional array instead of the hundreds or thousands of embedded data fields I would need to accomplish what I have.
I had a similar problem to this and I think I came to the conclusion that side-by-sides validate by column. I could be wrong or I could have been doing it wrong to begin with but I ended up having to code my own validation in JavaScript.
what are the question types and why would you want to?
@TomG you recently helped someone take advantage of the TOC Jump feature to allow them to jump to the end of/a specific block. HERE. Do you have any thoughts on how I could accomplish this while jumping to a specific loop within a loop and merge?

I figured that would be the case. No harm in trying though :# I suppose I'll have to figure it out on my own. If I do figure it out I'll come back here and let you guys know how I did it.
"Buzz Lightyear to Star Command. Come in Star Command. Why won't they answer."
It drives me crazy when I'm so close to an answer and something silly like that just mucks it all up. Just curious, why the down vote? Is it because I didn't know why the issues was occurring the first place.
Do you still need help with this issue? If so could you clarify for me a bit more what it is exactly you are trying to accomplish?
So I don't know why it does it. I assume the container or another variable is being stored somewhere and not updated, but if you still need an answer the easiest way i found to fix the problem was just name them differently (Containter2, dice_button2, dice_container2)
