Hi all,i have a list of 100+ plant species - each has been recoded as either a “0” or a “2” depending on their status.If i conduct a survey using any of the “2” species it doesn’t matter which one i choose, it will always get uploaded as one specific plant species. That is, regardless of which “2” species i choose it will always get put into Data and Analysis as the same one “Ulex” in this case.Equally if i choose a “0” species (any one of the 80 odd options) it will only ever show up as one species option: in this case “Acacia” What is going on? Is recode messing with the selection?
Hi All,sorry but i have hit my limit. I’m too far in to not use Simple Layout or the SBS for these questions but Simple Layout is, simply, frustrating and/or my JavaScript is way too poor.I have forced response: 1 choice in Col 1, 1 choice in Col 2. But, now i’ve been asked that, if the last choice is made in Col 2, it should negate any choice in Col 1.i have tried editing code from here: and here: and even considered the @TomG code for enabling the removal of a selection (it would then require their trust to remove their selection in Col 1 if they choose ‘exclusive’, which is not ideal but ok given the limited end-users) - though my understanding is that it doesn’t work for Simple Layout. correct?Either i’m not getting the element names correct or something.My preference is to keep it as just the 2 columns as per top picture, below, but would also happily move that “exclusive” choice to a 3rd column is that’s easier.Also, if anyone has any creative work-arounds that will work in-page
Hi All,In Simple Layout i have a generic SBS table with 3 statements. In Custom CSS i have set a max-width of 85% since that suits the content. These SBS have been simply formatted.I also have a series of simple 2-choice Multiple choice questions BUT to maintain the stylistic look of the survey i am trying to make those MC questions into a single statement SBS. It makes the whole form look consistent.BUT, with only one statement how do i override the CSS and make those specific questions more compact?i have tried css to target the specific question #QID156 but haven’t found the correct element names.Also, i don’t need a Statement header so i have just called it ‘ ‘ ie: a single press of the spacebar, but i’m wondering if i can minimise the height of the statement header.Currently it looks like this at 85% page width. 50% would look much better.Cheers.
Hi All,this is a follow-on from autopopulate column 2 in a SBS when a selection is made in column 1 | XM Community (qualtrics.com)A 3rd column in a Simple Layout SBS question is set as a checkbox (multiple answer with only one choice) as per The problem is that both “checked” and “not checked” are valid choices, but (because of Forced Response) “not checked” is not allowed.I know i can make this checkbox its own question below the SBS (will do that if all else fails) but for display reasons (so other questions below it can be seen without scrolling) i want it to be part of the SBS.I have been playing around with heaps of JS code to set the aria-required for this to false but have been unsuccessful.My other option is to make it a drop-down with “No” set as default but the checkbox style just looks so much nicer.I’m beginning to learn that all things seem possible with JS, CSS and/or HTML so i’m hoping this is possible too.Cheers
Hi All,i have a SBS question that is repeated a number of times thru a survey (Simple Layout). The 1st is a side-by-side that fills the screen perfectly, but the subsequent questions: a checkbox (multiple select with 1 option) and an essay text box only fill 2/3 of the screen width. Hi All,very new to this - coming from ODK which shares a number of features. My question may have an answer related to this: Custom code to add an editor to respondents' entries in the Essay Text Box? | XM Community (qualtrics.com) but i am yet to understand JavaScript or how to implement many of the features of Qualtrics.What i’m looking for is, depending on a Yes/No question, to present an essay text box with a header already within it or an alternate text box with 2 headers. If “yes”, the text entry will appear as below, if “no” just the Summary will appear. My respondents are all scientists, so they’re used to the compartmentalisation of responses. Q: Please enter your rationale Summary: answer will get written in here Describe the gaps in known data: a second block of text then gets entered My first draft is to have a 2nd textbox appear when “yes” is selected, but that seems like cheating :) and isn’t an efficient use of an “essay” style textbox.
